The Woodford County Neighborhood Group of the American Sewing Guild will discuss the use of various feet for the sewing machine at 7:00 PM at the September 19 meeting which will be held at the Farm Bureau Building, 117 W. Center St. in Eureka. Everyone is asked to bring to the meeting their favorite sewing machine feet, as well as any that they don’t like or don’t know the use of. The meeting is free and open to everyone.
Every sewing machine comes equipped when new with several ordinary feet, but there are many more available for purchase, and most sewers have ten to 20 feet per machine. Not all of the feet work as intended, and sometimes the sewer no longer knows what the foot is for. Putting their heads together, persons attending the meeting will be able to figure out the puzzles and give advice for those that simply don’t seem to work.
The Peoria Chapter of the American Sewing Guild is supported by several neighborhood groups. The only one that meets in the evening is the Woodford County group which meets on the 3rd Thursday of the month. All meetings are open to the public and no admission is charged. The November meeting will be a hands-on demonstration of making a flower from the skinny part of a necktie.
