EUREKA - The Republican Pork Chop Picnic, an annual fund raiser for the local Republican Central Committee is ready to kick off with a whole new venue. The August 29th picnic will be held at the Eureka 4H Park 5:00-7:30PM, it will host speakers running for local and state positions. State Senators Darin LaHood, Jason Barrickman, and State Representative David Lietch and Rebecca Harms, wife of Representative Josh Harms will be in attendance, ready to answer your questions.
Local Boy Scout troop 54 will post the colors at 5 PM. After the blessing of the meal, governor candidate Bruce Rauner will speak at 5:15, followed by other gubernatorial candidates, Kirk Dillard, Bill Brady and Dan Rutherford, as they are able to arrive. Signs and campaign literature will be available for pick up. The picnic will offer Bittner’s Pork Chop Platters for $15 each and Hot Dog Platters free to children 10 and under with an adult ticket holder. The First Annual “New Car” vehicle show will feature cars and trucks for a “look and see” show from Woodford County car dealers. They will be handing out free new car smells! The committee will also be selling gun raffle tickets. We are offering a Smith & Wesson SD .40 caliber concealed carry weapon. Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased in advance from Darren Evans or any committee member. If you have questions, or to purchase tickets contact Christy Casey at 309-467-3777.
