METAMORA - George Gershwin, in the form of his music, will be alive and well at the Winter Concert presented by the Metamora Township High School band program on Sunday, February 17th at 2:30 p.m. in the Kenneth H. Maurer Performing Arts Center. The concert will feature the piano duo of Ed and Janet Kaizer performing some classic Gershwin accompanied by the Metamora Wind Ensemble. The Metamora HS Symphonic Band will begin the program featuring music by Ron Nelson, Michael Daugherty, and Frank Ticheli. “Red Steel” steel band will follow the band with two new pieces composed by the renowned steel pan artist, Liam Teague. Gershwin will come alive in the second half of the concert as the Kaizers perform the Gershwin classic, Rhapsody in Blue and his three preludes with a special twist. The Metamora Wind Ensemble will also perform Second Suite in F by Gustav Holst and conclude with the concert with a hint of the Caribbean and steel drums in Gillingham’s Nights in Tobago.
