EUREKA – The Eureka College chapter of Sigma Tau Delta international English honor society is holding a poetry competition for Illinois high school students. Original poems of 100 lines or less may be submitted to Sigma Tau Delta president Lydia Presley at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it by Feb. 15. There is a limit of one submission per student. Submissions will be judged by Eureka College English professor Zeke Jarvis. Winners will be announced at the end of the college’s second annual Literary Festival March1 and 2. The top three winners will receive scholarship funds to attend Eureka College and cash prizes. Their poems will be published in ELM and Impressions literary magazines. The top 20 finalists and their families and teachers will be invited to attend a reception at the literary festival, where finalists will read their poems. For more information, contact Presley.
