EUREKA - Karen Fyke and Michelle Cecil will teach a paper-piecing (quilting technique) project at the February 16th meeting of the Woodford County Sewing Guild.

The meeting will be held at 7:00 PM in the Auditorium of the Farm Bureau Building, 117 W. Center, Eureka (parking lot off of Callender St.) Every member and guest will be given a free packet with everything needed to complete a 5-inch block featuring a spring flower. Sewers are asked to bring their own scissors. There is no fee for the meeting and everyone is welcome.
Paper piecing is a very old method of making quilt blocks that insures absolutely accurate joining at corners and intersections of the fabrics. The flower block project to be completed at the February meeting will be done by hand, and the only sewing skill needed will be to be able to do a common running stitch; small stitches are not required. The goal of the project is to acquaint participants with the method used in paper piecing.
Meeting the third Thursday of each month, the Sewing Guild brings together women who like to work with needles (or hooks) and thread (or yarn). The low-key meetings are filled with new and old ideas and much laughter.
The next meeting will be March 15 when Debbie Henninger will demonstrate her Hobo Quilt patterns and quilts.
