EUREKA – The Peoria Symphony Chamber Players will perform “African-American Influences on Classical Music: Free Men and Free Minds!” at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 7 in the Cerf Center at Eureka College. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students.  
The program will feature music of African-American composers of the American South who fled the United States before the Civil War

to become important musicians in Europe and South America, including Edmond Dédé, Charles Lambert and Louis Gottschalk. The concert will culminate with Austrian composer Wilhelm Grosz’s “Afrika Songs.”
The Peoria Symphony Chamber Players is comprised of rotating members of the Peoria Symphony Orchestra with a passion for chamber music and chamber orchestra repertoire.
The concert is the second of five performances by the Peoria Symphony Chamber Players at Eureka College this academic year.
Other performances will be:
• March 6 – “Ancient Voices – Korean Traditional Music and Literature,” part of the Peoria: An International Community Celebration.
• March 19 – “Contemporary Latin American Music,” part of the Peoria: An International Community Celebration.
• April 19 – “The Genius of Beethoven.”
