EUREKA – Eureka College has been named a military friendly school by G.I. Jobs magazine. The magazine annually identifies schools with effective programs to recruit and embrace America’s military service members and veterans as students, according to G.I. Jobs publisher Rich McCormack.

The 1,518 colleges, universities and trade schools on the 2012 list

make recruitment of students with military experience a priority, McCormack said.
“These schools are making the grade by offering scholarships and discounts, veterans’ clubs, full-time staff, military credit and other services to those who served,” McCormack said.
Ellen Rigsby, assistant dean and director of financial aid at Eureka College, who also is the school’s VA certifying official, said, “Eureka College is the proud home to students who served their country and are now working toward a degree with assistance from the Department of Veterans Affairs. We also host students who are eligible for VA benefits due to a parent’s military service to the United State of America.”

The annual Guide to Military Friendly Schools will be distributed in early October.
G.I. Jobs magazine’s readership includes active military personnel and former military personnel transitioning into civilian life. Besides its Guide to Military Friendly Schools, it publishes Military Spouse and Vetrepreneur magazines, and it annually rates the nation’s military friendly employers, military spouse friendly employers and best corporations for veteran-owned businesses.
