By Mary Daheim (William Morrow: 2011)

I think this is a case of finding a clever title and then trying to find

a story to go with it… and not really succeeding. That said, the book is a good, light mystery, the kind we’ve come to expect from Daheim. Judith McMonigle Flynn, owner of a bread and breakfast, has a house full of weird guests who are not at all happy to be there. She’s expected to serve them dinner, which she does, but by the time the dinner is over all the guests have decided to go somewhere else.
While Judith and her cousin Renie are dealing with the mess, husband Joe has been “detained” by the police under mysterious circumstances. No one explains anything to Judith and she can only assume that he has been arrested for the murder of the man he had been surveilling.
All the usual characters are present, including Judith’s cantankerous mother, Gertrude, and the wonderful and competent neighbor, Arlene Rankers. At least in this book no one actually dies on the premises.
