I read in the newspaper, American Indian tribes mishandle funds, go unpunished. Federal agencies questioned millions more dollars the Northern Arapaho government spent, but decided not to recover any of the money — and even increased funding to the tribe. I thought, so? Why should they be any different that other bureaucrats? The media, watchdog groups, even Congress itself uncovers people stealing tax money, but most of the time federal authorities do little about it — due to a lack of oversight, resources or political will.
Remember when we taxpayers bailed the banks out? The Auto Industry? Who caused the problem in the first place? Who suffered for it? Not the same people! And, what a revoltin’ development this is!
An IRS audit was unable to find why millions of dollars disappeared or, where it was spent, from a fund to implement the Affordable Health Care Act. Looks like no one will be punished. It’d make me sick - but I might not be able to afford it.
Do we have to go to Washington to see waste? Our State Capitol and Chicago have to share the credit. Yes, CREDIT - since Illinois has no money to pay them. We have bureaucrats being paid with tax money to try to make sure people pay child support, which they don’t. Maybe a better use of the money would be just use the tax money to pay child support.
At a recent county board meeting it was pointed out that if we, the people, want we the Government to continue to supply services, as prices escalate, then income has to increase also, so the State and Federal monetary situation can be avoided. This may remind may include raising taxes.
