Chance favors the prepared mind, they say. Others say we should always be prepared. That has been the motto of the Boy Scouts since 1907, and I have just written this column, hoping you are prepared for it. I doubt you are expecting it - and, what a revoltin’ development this is!
If the unexpected becomes the expected, what has become of the expected that you expected before the unexpected became the expected? Of course, if you expect the unexpected, but the expected happens, was it the expected you expected or was it the unexpected you expected, or, what you didn’t expect? Which unexpected should we expect?
If you expected this column to be serious, were you expecting too much from me, or is this about what you’ve come to expect? If you were expecting something like this, I’ll have to change my ways, and become unexpected. Be honest; you weren’t expecting that!
Now, if you think this is confusing to read, think about how difficult writing it was– solely for your enjoyment. I certainly hope it met your expectations. I’m sure there are those of you who expected something like this. To those of you who didn’t, it was unexpected. Pay attention!
