Methodist Offers New Physician Staff Education Program with Breaking Medical News and Free Continuin
PEORIA — As part of a continued investment in the education of medical personnel, Methodist Medical Center is reaching out to its health care staff and community physicians and nurses by offering free online continuing education credits and breaking medical news, by specialty. MedNews Plus is an e-mailed compilation of the latest medical news made available free to physicians and medical staff. Medical information comes from trusted medical journals, newswires and conferences and is updated daily. Each subscriber can customize it according to areas of practice specialty or interests. MedNews Plus is the only program of its kind in the United States. “It’s great that we can provide our physicians with online education credits,” says Dr. Rick Anderson, Vice President of Medical Affairs for Methodist, “but it’s also exciting that they have immediate access to the latest health information and conference coverage. These are the breakthroughs that patients are asking about.” “Methodist is at the forefront of a growing trend,” explains Dan Ansel, Private Health News president, “It’s more and more important that hospitals are their physicians’ first source for health information.” Another of Methodist’s goals for strengthening relationships with physicians and other health care staff will be met with the program. Through MedNews Plus, Methodist can also provide better information, focused on the interests of the individual subscriber. According to Dr. Anderson, “We at Methodist think this program will improve the way we’re communicating and interacting with our physicians. It’s timely, relevant and-most importantly-useful in our physicians’ busy world.”
