ormond COLOR

Neal Ormond of Aurora (with headset) will be honored for 50 years as the radio voice of the West Aurora boys basketball Blackhawks on Saturday, Jan. 25. From 5 to 6:30 p.m., he will be feted at a public reception in West's lower café at the school, 1201 W. New York St. Before tipoff of the West-East Aurora varsity game at 7:30 p.m., Ormond will be recognized in a ceremony at midcourt. His four siblings and three children, all graduates of West, are expected to attend. West's pep band will play a new piece composed for the occasion and family members will present memorabilia to the Aurora Historical Society.  Ormond, president of the West Aurora School Dist. 129 board of education, broadcasts West games on WBIG Radio 1280 AM in Aurora.
