The East Aurora High School Music Department is hoping the community can help send more than 100 choir and band students to New York City next summer. The students are raising funds to travel in June of 2014 for musical instruction and sightseeing.
The students will be traveling with Music Travel Consultants on a four-day trip. In addition to sightseeing, the group will participate in clinics with professional musicians and perform in the atrium of Trump Tower.
East Aurora students will also have an opportunity to watch musicians at the top of their profession when they see a performance of the New York Philharmonic and attend a Broadway production.
Throughout the year, students will be raising the money for the trip. Each student needs to raise $1,000 to participate.
A car wash last weekend kicked off fundraising activities.
Upcoming events include an Oct. 29 jazz concert and a "Fall Fling" on Oct. 30. Admission to both events in the Arlene Hawks Auditorium. is $2 and concessions will be sold in the lobby.
