Aurora's Paramount Theater has announced its second season of musical productions at the historic downtown venue.

In an announcement to nearly 13,000 inaugural subscribers, the theater's second Broadway season includes:  Grease (Sept. 12-30, 2012), Annie (Nov. 21-Dec. 30, 2012), The Music Man (Jan. 16-Feb. 3, 2013) and Fiddler on the Roof (Mar. 6-24, 2013).

SPRINGIFIELD — Illinois Governor Pat Quinn recently announced a new state-funded program designed to better prepare students in public schools for college and careers.

The program known as the Illinois Pathways Initiative will partner businesses with public schools to encourage learning in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM).

Leap years are needed to keep our calendar in alignment with the earth’s revolutions around the sun. ‘Leap Day’ is February 29, which is an extra (intercalary) day added during a Leap Year, making the year 366 days long – and not 365 days, like a normal year.

EUREKA - Farmers in Woodford County led the way in corn yields with an average of 186.5 bushels per acre, the highest in the state during the 2011 growing season, according to figures released by the USDA National Agriculture Statistics Service (NASS).
