Flags were unfurled and fans sang and cheered as Chicago's Major League Soccer team returned home for the first time in 2012 at suburban Toyota Park last Saturday. And the faithful were rewarded with a 1-0 victory over Philadelphia.

Men's college basketball teams from Illinois went 0-for-13 in selection for this year's NCAA tournament. It was a great time for women, however, as DePaul and Notre Dame both qualified for their postseason AND hosted games.

There are 13 NCAA Division I men's basketball programs in Illinois and not a single one made this year's championship tournament.

But in women's basketball, it's a different story as DePaul (along with Notre Dame in next-door Indiana) not only qualified for their tournaments, they had the opportunity to host games.
