New Advocate Eureka Sign Goes Up

EUREKA - Bundled up to fight the cold and the snow, Jordan Nagle of Prairie Signs in Bloomington slides the revised Town and Country Healthcare sign in place beneath the new Advocate Eureka Hospital sign on South Major St. Gone is the familiar flame logo of BroMenn Healthcare System, which has been merged with the Advocate system. Long known as Eureka Hospital until 1984, the much cherished hospital became part of the Mennonite system in 1978 and was renamed Eureka Community Hospital as it became part of the new BroMenn System, which itself was a merger of Normal’s Brokaw Hospital and Bloomington’s Mennonite Hospital in 1984.  Advocate Health Care is a network of 11 Illinois hospitals headquartered in Oak Brook.

  One Last Look

Old Eureka Community Sign

EUREKA - Eureka Community Hospital and the BroMenn Medical Group are now just part of Woodford County’s history. Shortly after this picture was taken, these signs came down and Advocate Eureka Hospital signs appeared around the hospital. No doubt it may be for the better, but many a former patient or employee will have a lump in the throat to see this, we are sure.
