PEORIA - Chris Robinson, of Eureka, also known as “Superman,” topped all contestant’s in raising pledges for Saturday’s 2009 Arthritis Foundation Jingle Bell Run/Walk  at the RiverPlex.

PEORIA - Eureka’s Chris Robinson was the top overall fund raiser for the Greater Illinois Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation’s 5 Kilometer 2009 Jingle Bell Run/Walk last Saturday morning at Peoria’s RiverPlex.

An estimated 1,200 runners competed, most wearing at least one bell to jingle. Superheroes were represented heavily in the costuming worn by runners, including a team from Metamora which took the prize for the best team outfits.

In a congratulatory email to his sponsors, Robinson said, “That means we beat all the teams as well. Most importantly, we raised $1,720 for the Arthritis Foundation.”

A fairly new runner, he also set a personal record at 20:43, which earned him a 4th place finish in his age group.

Approximately $50,000 dollars was raised through pledges solicited by the runners, entry fees, and other gifts to the Foundation.
