by Karen D. Fyke This recipe came from Amy Look, a nurse friend of my mother’s. Amy was a renowned cook in West Peoria.
1 1/3 C flour 2/3 C sugar 2 t soda 1 t salt 2 C whole wheat flour 1 C raisins (coated with flour) 2 eggs, well beaten 1 1/3 C sorghum molasses 2 C buttermilk (or 2 C milk with 4 T vinegar)
Sift the flour, sugar, soda and salt. Mix in the wheat flour. Add the remaining ingredients and mix well. Bake in 350° oven about one hour.
